Complete DIY Guide to Natural Skin Care
If you run to the store to pick up some skin care products, you’ll be overwhelmed at what you’ll find – shelves and shelves of moisturizers, toners, cleansers, and more, all made from who-knows-what ingredients. How do you know which ones to pick? Or to spend your money on? (Because let’s be honest, they can be expensive.) Instead of scratching your head at the store trying to figure out what to use, why not try making your own skin care products? Not only will they be all natural, but they can be just as effective as anything you can find in the store, for probably half the cost! Keep reading for some great recipes to make your own natural skin care routine.
Cleanser
Any good cleanser both cleanses and sooths. And a honey and lemon cleanser does just the trick! Honey is full of antioxidants and is a natural antibacterial, which helps prevent acne and slow the skins aging process. And the lemon juice kills acne-causing bacteria and clears away dead skin. Combine 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice with 2 teaspoons honey. Warm it on your hands and then spread it on your face and neck. Let it dry before rinsing with warm water.
Moisturizer
One of the easiest and best DIY moisturizers out there. Are you ready? All you need is coconut oil! Coconut oil eliminates moisture loss on your face, and helps remove shine that may appear on your skin, all while leaving it feeling incredibly smooth. Simply apply a thin layer to your skin and let it dry. Talk about easy!
Exfoliator
Exfoliation is incredibly important to a good skin care routine. Luckily, finding a DIY exfoliator is incredibly easy. Sugar is ideal, as it contains glycolic acid. For the skin, glycolic acid helps the skin produce new cells, and helps remove dead skin cells! Mix the sugar with your favorite oil (such as almond, olive, or grapeseed) until it makes a paste. Then rub it on your face in a circular motion for one minute. Rinse with warm water.
Night cream
No, the night cream is not the same as the moisturizer. You want something that can have multiple ingredients at work to heal your skin while you sleep. And this night cream will do just that. The olive oil will moisturize. The vitamin E will repair and protect the skin. Mix a half cup olive oil with 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 1 tablespoon beeswax. Heat in a saucepan on low until it is melted together. Then add 2 crushed vitamin E capsules. Allow the cream to cool before applying.
Toner
Try using apple cider vinegar as a toner. It will help restore your skin’s pH levels and help clear clogged pores and prevent breakouts! Mix one part apple cider vinegar with two parts water. Shake well, and apply it to your face with a cotton ball. Allow it to dry.
Great skin doesn’t have to come from lots of dollars spent and lots of ingredients you don’t pronounce. We hope these few tips help you discover some new tricks for skin care products you can feel good about putting on your skin!
